Forde’s Professional Tutoring is a 21 year old privately operated tutorial institution which helps students improve their academics and prepare for exams. It is staffed with educational professionals who are skilled in helping children perform at their maximum. Founder and principal Dr. Seon Forde began tutoring in his homeland Trinidad. He was an educator and a principal there. In 1970 Dr. Forde started Forde's Educational Institute at Grant Street Couva, and in 1977 two more schools where added where ordinary levels and advanced levels courses where taught. In 1982 to further assist students preparing for exams, a publishing and printing department was added. He is the author of 26 books and has over 35 years of experience in the business of tutorial education. When Dr. Forde migrated to the U.S., he continued to bring enthusiasms for educational success with him. At district 17, he carried the Grade Class to 80% in sequential math in 1989. In 1992 he wrote a proposal which enhanced th Specialized High School Prep Program. Through this program the students entered top schools and won first place in the District Borough in the NYC Inter-Scholastic mathematics competition. As Math Chairperson, staff developer and teacher trainer, Dr. Forde has conducted numerous workshops for teachers. He has also tutored his colleagues in preparation for the N.T.E with great success. With his help the Science Department won first place in the Borough science fair held at Brooklyn Technical Institute. He has also been in the fourth edition of Who's Who among American teachers. Dr. Seon finds his greatest joy in watching kids who were academically challenged move on to some of the city's top high schools, Ivy League Colleges and then become engineers, lawyers, doctors and various other professionals.
Dr. Forde started tutoring in the U.S., with his four children, who have all gone on to become successful professionals in their own right. It then went from a Saturday program for neighborhood children to a successful 4- 5 day a week year round program.
